Dear Sen. Boxer,
Your speech perpetuates the insidious deception that there is such a thing as “free health care.” Very few things in this world are free, and health care is certainly not one of them. Nearly all health care that is provided in this country without DIRECT cost to the recipient is paid either by the employer or the taxpayer, or both. This is, no doubt, a subtlety entirely lost on you, because your employer IS the taxpayer, and, from your perspective and, seemingly, the perspective of all of Washington DC, anything that comes from the taxpayer is free, by definition. You simply amble over and stick your head in the trough.
Many of us were hell bent on forcing elected Washington into a bill that allowed ALL taxpayers, i.e. all your employers, the right to the same health care YOU have, but the legislators were able to dodge that bit of natural justice by getting this bill passed. Time will tell. But you’ll be gone.
